The set is based on the illustration "Magnolia grandiflora" by the English artist Mary Delany, known for her botanical paper mosaics. She created illustrations of flowers on a black background by tissue paper appliqué. Delany's collection of nearly a thousand exquisite works is housed in the British Museum.
